Mark Fry: BIO
Mark graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay
in1981 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and the Arts.
His mom bought him a seven hundred dollar Buick and said,
“There’s the road”. After traveling the mid west with various
road bands, Mark ended up in Florida in 1986. He found the
weather to be very nice and decided to make Florida his new
home. Bands like “Fastrak” and “Savoir Faire” were paying the
rent and introducing Mark to the Florida scene. “Coco Red” was
another band Mark worked with in the Tampa area with clubs like
The Kasbah, Times Square, and Mc Dintons.
Mark left Tampa for a six year stint down in Naples, Florida. He
married the wrong chick and decided that the bar mitzvahs and
weddings weren’t his idea of a good time, so he moved back to
Tampa and has been here ever since.
He loves playing with the Stormbringer band. “It’s some of the
best rock ever written and I like everybody in the band… which
doesn’t always happen. We often get together on our days off and
have a barbeque”.
Influences: Some of Marks musical influences include Grover
Washington and Tom Scott on the saxophone. Bands like Little
Feat, Tower of Power and Earth, Wind and Fire are lifelong
favorites. Mark has performed with the O’Jays and the
Marvelettes. He’s taken it easy with Glen Frey (no relation),
worked hard for the money with Donna Summer, and tip- toed
through the Tulips with Tiny Tim. After all that, his musical
passion lies with the classic rock that is now the band…
